According to a release issued late Friday, beginning today, Monday, April 19, the state of New Jersey will expand the population eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine to all adult residents.
Anyone who has not scheduled their vaccine appointment at the Camden County Vaccination Center in Blackwood is encouraged to do so as soon as possible. Thousands of new appointment slots will be made available next week for the forthcoming expansion of eligibility.
The Camden County Vaccination Center is operated by the county in partnership with Cooper University Health Care and Jefferson Health-New Jersey and has provided nearly 100,000 doses of vaccine to date.
The site is currently open to those with appointments only. Appointments are available for eligible residents at camdencountyvaccine.com or by calling (856) 549-0530 or (800) 999-9045.
“When this pandemic started, no one could have imagined that we would have multiple safe, effective vaccines available to all adults by the middle of April 2021. This is truly a miracle of modern science and we owe a tremendous debt to the men and women who spent the last year producing these solutions,” said County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli, Jr.
“Our best chance to end this pandemic is for everyone to get vaccinated as soon as possible. If you have not already made an appointment, now is the time to sign up. As supply increases, we are frequently advancing appointments and getting patients in well before their scheduled date, but we can only move you up once you’re in the system.”
The Camden County Vaccination Center is currently administering only the Moderna Vaccine. The FDA has authorized the emergency use of the Moderna Vaccine to prevent COVID-19 in adults 18 years of age and older under the Emergency Use Authorization. The county’s site cannot vaccinate persons younger than 18 years of age.
Additionally, the Vaccination Center plans to resume use of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine once the pause put in place by the FDA has been lifted. The Johnson and Johnson vaccine has also only been authorized for use in patients 18 and older.
Individuals with questions regarding the COVID-19 vaccine can call the vaccination information hotline at (800) 999-9045. A hotline to assist individuals with scheduling their vaccination appointment will be available in the coming weeks.
