On Saturday, April 24, The Gloucester County Board of Commissioners will host the annual Spring Festival.
The Spring Festival will include free family fun like children’s crafts and games, farm animals, crafters, vendors, colonial demonstrators, spinning, weaving and hearth cooking. Masks are required while attending.
“Take a step back in time and experience the history Gloucester County has to offer,” said Director Robert M. Damminger. “We cannot wait to safely hold Spring Fest this year. It’s the best way to welcome Spring and a preview to all our summer programming.”
Visitors must abide by social distancing guidelines.
“We can’t wait to welcome visitors back to our parks. The Spring Festival truly takes visitors back in time to experience what it was like living during the 1800s,” said Commissioner Jim Lavender, liaison to the Department of Parks and Recreations.
Demonstration Schedule:
- Noon: Clothes, Clothes, Clothes- How does flax turn into a linen apron? How does wool become a pair of trousers? Explore Colonial Clothing.
- 1 p.m. – Sheep Shearing
- 2 p.m.– Sheep Shearing
- 2:30 p.m.– Get the Buzz on Bees
- 3 p.m.– Uncovering Myths- We will peel back the layers of myth and legend which have overtaken the facts of colonial history.
- Sponsorship from the Gloucester County Cultural and Heritage Commission at Rowan College of South Jersey.
