Ethernell Murray Saxon is turning 100 on March 10, 2021. Also on that date she is scheduled to receive her 2nd vaccine at Camden County College in Blackwood.

This native South Carolinian moved to Cherry Hill in 2015 to live with her daughter, Cathleen Saxon-Jenkins. The Saxons married on December 31, 1943 while SFC Saxon was on leave from the United States Army and Mrs. Saxon was attending South Carolina State College. Mrs. Saxon taught in a one room school while her husband served in World War II.

Mrs. Saxon moved with her late husband — United States Army soldier — George W. Saxon throughout the country and abroad. The family returned to Washington D.C. after her husband’s retirement from the army. In D.C., they operated a dry cleaner for many years before eventually returning to South Carolina, their home state.

The Saxons had four children: Gloria, George IV, Cathleen, and Alvin (deceased). Mrs. Saxon enjoys watching television, cleaning and talking with her family.
