Cherry Hill Township to Support Local Non-Profits Impacted by Pandemic with Grant Funding

Program to provide up to $20,000 in assistance to offset expenses related to the coronavirus response effort.

On Monday evening, during its bi-monthly public meeting, Mayor Susan Shin Angulo and Cherry Hill Township Council announced that non-profit organizations serving the Township of Cherry Hill would be eligible to apply for federal grant funding provided through the CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security) Act.

“Cherry Hill is a community that uplifts and supports one another when it matters
most, and our non-profit partners play a critical role in this,” said Mayor Susan Shin
Angulo. “I’m thrilled to be able to offer this assistance to our non-profits who time
and again step up to care for our most vulnerable.”

The program will provide grants of up to $20,000 to local non-profits that have been
financially impacted by an increase in demand for their services during the COVID-19
pandemic.

“This program supports non-profits to have an impact on people who are most in
need,” said Council President David Fleisher. “Council is proud to partner with our
grassroots organizations to make a difference in people’s lives.”

Many local non-profits providing necessary assistance to Cherry Hill residents are
also in need of help themselves in order to offset the increased burden of providing
additional services.

Non-profits interested in applying can find more information on the Township’s
website at: https://www.cherryhill-nj.com/1302/Non-Profit-Grants.

Recipients will be chosen based on a number of criteria that are provided in the grant application. Non-profits may apply for eligible activities that are proposed, current, or dating back to April 1, 2020. Proof of payment and receipts will be required to receive funds for the reimbursement program.

Federal regulations define the parameters for using CDBG funds according to the
national objectives. They also specify eligible program activities. Copies of these
regulations are available on HUD’s website at:

Cherry Hill Township was allocated federal funds through the US Department of
Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) CDBG-CV program, authorized by the
CARES Act, Public Law 116-136, which was signed by President Trump on March 27, 2020, to help prevent, prepare for, and respond to the coronavirus pandemic.

A portion of these funds has been set aside to assist non-profits organizations servicing Cherry Hill Township.
