Obituary: John H. Washington

Borough denizen lived one year short of a century.

John Washington, age 99 and a longtime Haddonfield resident, died on Feb. 7, 2021.

He was the beloved husband of the late June (née Gary), devoted father of Nancy (John) Connell of Collingswood, Timothy (Jennifer) Washington of Collingswood and the Late Sandra Walles, loving grandfather of Chris (Courtney) Mallon and Wendy Coskey, Kelly (Eric) Weaver, Katie Connell and Aileen (Dave) Gainer. John was also a great-grandfather to Lilly, Jack, Ian, Samantha, Finn, and Hudson.

“Harry,” as he was fondly known, lived in the borough for 87 years. He served our country in the Army Air Corps, and flew 51 missions out of Italy during World War II. Upon his return, Harry worked for General Electric for over 30 years. He was greatly loved by his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John H. Washington may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project: https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/default.aspx?tsid=10043
