Chabad of Camden and Burlington Counties invites the entire community to celebrate the Festival of Lights at our covid-safe public Menorah lighting ceremonies and community Chanukah celebrations. You may join in-person or via live broadcast from home – there’s something for everyone!
On Monday, Dec. 14, at 6 p.m., Chabad will host a menorah lighting and Chanukah celebration at Tomlinson Mill Park in Medford. Afterward, guests will be invited for latkes and donuts at the Chabad House – 74 South Main Street, Medford.
With much planning and precautions taken for COVID-safety, events may be slightly different than in previous years, but despite such a challenging time, this year – more than ever – we must do all we can to spread the message of Chanukah.
Chanukah propagates the universal message that ultimately good will prevail over evil, freedom over oppression and light over darkness.
“The Chanukah lights provide us with warmth, joy, strength and inspiration. Such is the purpose of many community-wide celebrations organized by Chabad and held in various locations throughout the Chanukah Holiday,” says Rabbi Mendel Mangel, Director of Chabad of Camden and Burlington Counties. “During our events we’ll be standing socially distanced, but our mission is to bring the light of the Menorah to the hearts of everyone in the Camden and Burlington County communities, and to inspire our friends and neighbors to help us spread the light even further.”
Public dignitaries and community leaders will attend the ceremonies and will assist in kindling the giant “Menorahs of Freedom.”
Chanukah is highlighted by the kindling of the Menorah each night of the holiday. According to Rabbi Yitzchok Kahan, Chabad‘s Program Director, “It is a holiday that enriches our lives with the light of tradition. In ancient times our ancestors rededicated the Temple in Jerusalem with the Menorah. Today, notwithstanding all the hardships we’ve faced in the past many months, we rededicate ourselves to making this world a better and brighter place for all of us.”
In its Chanukah outreach campaign, Chabad of Camden and Burlington Counties joins thousands of Chabad centers across the globe that are staging similar public displays of the Menorah and its symbolic lights. From Australia to Africa, Columbia to Hong Kong, New York City’s ground zero to the White House lawn, hundreds of thousands will experience the joy of Chanukah with Chabad.
