I-295 and I-76 ramps to be closed and detoured overnight this week as part of Direct Connection project
Route 42 lane closure also necessary for drainage work
New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials announced two ramp closures continuing each night this week on I-295 northbound and I-76 eastbound as the Direct Connection project advances in Bellmawr, Camden County.
One lane of Route 42 northbound also will be closed each night this week.
Beginning at 9 p.m. Monday, December 10, until 5 a.m. the next day, and continuing each night this week through Friday, December 14, the following ramps and lanes will be closed to allow for drainage work in the center median near the Browning Road Bridge:

· I-76 eastbound ramp to I-295 southbound
· Route 42 northbound left lane
The following overnight detours will be in place:

· Motorists traveling on I-295 northbound will be directed to continue on I-295 north to Exit 27
· Take the left Exit 27 ramp to I-76 westbound
I-76 eastbound ramp to I-295 southbound detour:
· Motorists traveling on I-76 eastbound to I-295 southbound will be directed to take Exit 1B to Route I-295 northbound

Route 42 northbound lane closure
The left lane of Route 42 northbound will be closed near Exit 1B/I-295 northbound.
The work is part of the $900 million Direct Connection project that will provide a seamless route for I-295 motorists traveling through the interchange of I-295, I-76, and Route 42. The Direct Connection project has been divided into four separate construction contracts, with completion of the fourth and final contract expected in the fall of 2024. NJDOT’s project website provides construction activity schedules and updates.
