Kitten season is in full swing at the Gloucester County Animal Shelter (GCAS) and the shelter is seeking donations to help care for them.
“The kittens that come to the shelter need round-the-clock-care in order to be adopted into love homes,” said Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger.
The shelter is need of kitten formula, dry food, wet food, blankets and digital scales to help get the kittens ready for adoption.
“The kittens that come to the shelter need to be a certain size before we’re able to adopt them,” explained Freeholder Deputy Director Frank J. DiMarco, liaison to the shelter. “Any donation makes a huge difference at the shelter and for the animals there.”
Donations can be sent or dropped off at the shelter directly. GCAS is located at 1200 N. Delsea Drive, Clayton.
Individuals interested in adopting an animal from the shelter can fill out an application online at www.gloucestercountynj.com.
The shelter has 50 animals available for an adoption including 38 cats, six dogs, one rabbit, three guinea pigs and two roosters.
Adoption hours have been updated at the Gloucester County Animal Shelter to Tuesday through Thursday from noon to 7 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.
Adoption hours are by appointment only. GCAS is still limiting access to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The shelter is still discounting adoption fees. Animals 6 years old and younger will have their adoption fees reduced to $35. Dogs and cats 6 years and older will have their adoption fees completely waived.
