“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families as we announce 15 additional tragic deaths due to COVID-19 in our community,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. “Today, Governor Murphy issued a stark warning as he announced that the state’s rate of transmission has climbed to its highest point in weeks. We have to be unequivocal in this moment. If we do not take this threat seriously, we will erase the progress we have made in recent months. Do not travel to states with high rates of transmission unless it is absolutely necessary and follow the self-quarantine guidelines when you return home if traveling is a must. Do not congregate in large groups, especially indoors. Wear a mask whenever you are in public and maintain appropriate social distancing from others at all times. We must follow these guidelines adamantly if we are going to save lives and avoid the challenges that now face states like Texas, Arizona, and Florida.”
