COVID-19 Update: 50 new positive cases reported in Gloucester County on May 27

Gloucester County also reported the deaths of three more residents ill with COVID-19 on Wednesday.

After several days of low case numbers during the Memorial Day weekend, Gloucester County reported 50 cases on May 27.

The 50 cases reported in Gloucester County is the most in a single day since May 17. Gloucester County is still seeing an overall decline in cases when the county’s rolling seven-day average is factored in. Over the past seven days, the county is averaging 27 cases per day, the fewest since the first week of April.

Here is a breakdown of Gloucester County’s rolling seven-day average number of COVID-19 cases by week:

  • March 26 to April 1 – 17.6 cases per day
  • April 2 to April 8 – 27.0 cases per day
  • April 9 to April 15 – 35.3 cases per day
  • April 16 to April 22 – 37.3 cases per day
  • April 23 to April 29 – 51.1 cases per day
  • April 30 to May 6 – 44.3 cases per day
  • May 7 to May 13 – 30.7 cases per day
  • May 14 to May 20 – 35.1 cases per day
  • May 21 to May 27 – 27.0 cases per day

Here is a breakdown of the new positive cases reported on May 27 by municipality:

  • Deptford – 14
  • Franklin Twp. – 1
  • Glassboro – 1
  • Harrison Twp. – 3
  • Mantua – 3
  • Monroe Twp. – 8
  • Newfield – 1
  • Washington Twp. – 13
  • West Deptford – 3
  • Westville – 1
  • Woodbury – 2

Gloucester County also reported the deaths of three more residents ill with COVID-19. They include an 85-year-old man from Glassboro, a 63-year-old man from Washington Township and a 65-year-old woman from Woodbury.

As with cases, Gloucester County’s COVID-19 death rate is also declining. The county has reported 13 deaths over the last seven days, the fewest in a seven-day span since late April.

  • March 26 to April 1 – 0.3 per day
  • April 2 to April 8 – 0.4 per day
  • April 9 to April 15 – 0.9 per day
  • April 16 to April 22 – 2.7 per day
  • April 23 to April 29 – 1.4 per day
  • April 30 to May 6 – 3.6 per day
  • May 7 to May 13 – 4.4 per day
  • May 14 to May 20 – 4.6 per day
  • May 21 to May 27 – 1.9 per day
