Gloucester County topped the 2,000 COVID-19 case mark on Thursday as health officials reported 34 new cases on May 21.
The 34 new cases are a slight decline from the prior day, but is the second-highest single-day total in the county over the past week. Nearly half of the cases were reported in Washington Twp. Out of Washington Township’s 15 new cases, 12 of them involved residents 70 years or older.
Gloucester County also confirmed one death of a resident ill with COVID-19 on Thursday, an 86-year-old woman from Glassboro. It is the first time since May 11 the county did not report multiple deaths from COVID-19 in a single day.
