Delran Democrats announced Councilman Gary Catrambone as their candidate for mayor, and Councilman Tyler Burrell and Lynn Jeney will run for the two at large council seats.
Catrambone has been a councilman for 12 years and has served as council president for 11 of those years.
“I’m looking forward to bringing new initiatives to the many changes the council has brought about during my time serving as council president,” Catrambone said. “I had the honor to lead several groups of (councilmen) over the years to bring about Community Park, the preservation of open space and most importantly, keeping taxes stable. Now, I would like to be more involved with the administrative side of the township to leverage my experience to work with the Administrator to further improve the efficiency of the departments.”
Catrambone also spoke highly of Burrell’s candidacy.
“Currently serving as council vice president and attending law school at the University of Pennsylvania, Burrell now brings both youth and experience,” Catrambone commented. “Tyler immediately proved that he was a natural leader who understood what changes were needed and knew how to make them happen!”
“I was blessed to have the opportunity to serve as one of the youngest councilman ever elected in New Jersey,” Burrell said. “By bringing fresh ideas to Delran, like Winter Festival and Delran Night Out, which reworked Delran Day to a true townwide celebration to coincide with National Night Out, we prioritized community engagement and camaraderie. When we work together as a community — the departments, organizations, volunteers, and businesses — we can truly make a positive impact.”
Jeney, a more than 40-year resident, served as president of the Board of Education when Delran was grossly underfunded by the state, yet managed to keep school taxes stable or flat. A retired Realtor with more than 20 years of high-level management experience, Lynn is currently serving as chairman of the Delran Zoning Board and wants to bring his experience with budgets and working with the public to serve his neighbors in Delran.
“Lynn will be a great addition to council,” stated Burrell. “It takes someone with Lynn’s experience to jump in and continue the work of this council.”
Catrambone added, “Lynn has lived in three different homes in Delran, knows this town and the details of the neighborhoods and how our plan to continuously improve the infrastructure works with the needs of each section of town.”
The Democratic ticket hopes to continue the work of the current council, who have aggressively executed their plan to improve the roads and infrastructure all over town, stabilized taxes for more than 10 years and will soon be outlining how they will be solving several of the problems that have plagued Delran for decades.
