Administrator’s Message: Harrison Township Day to have Roaring 20’s theme

In this week's message, we hear from the Township Administrator, Mark Gravinese, about Harrison Township Day 2020

I wanted to share some exciting news about our upcoming Celebration on Main – Roaring 20’s rendition of Harrison Township Day 2020. Harrison Recreation has chosen to use the Roaring 20’s theme as part of our celebration. The Roaring 20’s theme will allow us to be creative with street décor and even bring the vintage cars from the early years into our event. Rumors are that our fire district is working on having antique fire engines to be part of our celebration as well.

More exciting news is that we are planning to host the community event along South Main Street. Detail planning has started which has included our local business owners to help in the planning process. The event will include venues with live music, wood sculpting, amusements, food and lots of other venues that we are all still working on.

We have contracted with two mummer groups to perform along Main Street and serenade our spectators. An experience that you will not want to miss. This along with the many venues that are still in planning will make our event another memorable experience downtown. We will cap off the night with our fireworks extravaganza that is also promising to be a show of shows.

This event will be a street closing event but will only include the south side of Main Street. There will be no parade this year and will be an evening event from 5 to 9 p.m. We are still working on the details. I highly recommend that all of you add Saturday, May 2, on your calendars to remind you of the date. If anyone has any ideas regarding our event, I encourage you to call me at (856) 478-2164. We would love to explore ideas that would make this event even more memorable.
