Fatal crash occurred in Harrison Township, say police

The following is on file with the Harrison Township Police Department

On Jan. 14, at approximately 1731 hours, patrol officers were dispatched to the area
of 700, Mullica Hill Rd. (US 322) for a report of a man struck by a vehicle.

Preliminary investigation reveals that John P. Day, a 65-year-old male from Woodbury
was lying in the eastbound lane of the roadway for an unknown reason when he was struck by a 2017 Ford Taurus driven by a 53-year-old male from York, Pa. Day was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics with Inspira’s Life Support 4. The vehicle operator was uninjured.

Mullica Hill Road was closed between Edison Parkway and the Glassboro border for approximately four hours following the crash. The crash remains under investigation by Ptl. Kurt Pflugfelder assisted by Det. Adam McEvoy. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or the male lying in the road prior to the crash is asked to contact Ptl. Kurt Pflugfelder or Det. Harrison Township Police were assisted in the investigation by Mantua PD, Glassboro PD, Rowan University PD, Woodbury PD and the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office Crash Investigation Unit and Crime Scene Unit. Additional assistance was provided by Gloucester County Emergency Response Communications, Gloucester County EMS, Inspira Paramedics, Ewan Fire Company, Pitman Fire Police and NJ DOT Traffic Operations South.
