Long-time animal shelter resident adopted

A dog from the Burlington County Animal Shelter has finally found his forever home.

Rebel, a Pit Bull terrier mix, was surrendered to the shelter more than a year ago. He is one of eight canines and 16 cats that were adopted during the facility’s annual Clear the Shelter Open House on Sept. 7.

The event was organized in partnership with the Friends of the Burlington County Animal Shelter to help showcase many of the animals available for adoption or fostering. This year’s theme was Pawradise Luau.

Rebel was featured on 6ABC News’ latest “Shelter Me” segment earlier this month with meteorologist Cecily Tynan and was adopted by Philadelphia resident Christina Viggiano and her family, who met him at the open house. Rebel was the first adoption of the day.

Clear the Shelter is a national animal adoption promotion that began on Aug. 10 and ended earlier this month. All adoption fees were waived during that period.
