Fireworks return for 4th of July

Independence day events to take place at Cherry Hill West

Cherry Hill will bring fireworks back to the annual 4th of July celebration on Wednesday, July 3, the first time in more than a decade.

While there was no definitive answer on why the fireworks were paused, Mayor David Fleisher was determined to reverse the decision this year.

“It was a commitment of mine to bring fireworks back to Cherry Hill and reinvigorate a sense of pride and community spirit,” he explained.

As in previous years, the fireworks will be held at the West High School stadium. Attendees can arrive at 6:30 p.m. and park onsite at West; at the township municipal building; at St. Thomas Greek Orthodox Church; or at the Cherry Hill Commerce Center, where shuttles and ride-share dropoffs will be located. The fireworks will go off at 9 p.m.

This year will mark a first for the township’s shuttle service, which will run on a continuous loop from about 6:30 to 8 p.m. The accessible shuttle will only be going between the municipal building and the stadium. The other shuttles will be looping the municipal building, Greek Orthodox Church and the Commerce Center for those who do not need accessibility accomodations.

The event will also offer products from the following food vendors:

Cherry Hill Education Foundation (CHEF): Soft pretzels, chips, crackers, candy, water and Gatorade

Anthony’s Hotdogs (The Weenie Genie): Hot dogs and soft pretzels

Frios Gourmet Pops: Prepackaged, allergy friendly popsicles

Nothing Bundt Cakes: Handcrafted personal-size bundt cakes

Supersoft Ice Cream and Mister Softee: Soft-serve ice cream and popsicles

Smoke Sizzle and Grill: Hot dogs, burgers, BBQ

What’s Pop-in Kettle Corn: Old-fashioned kettle corn and lemonade

The event will also have a DJ and live performances from the band Masquerade at 8 p.m. Fireworks will begin at 9.

“The feedback has exceeded my expectations,” Fleisher noted of the celebration.

Rain date is Friday, July 5. Pets are not permitted. Find updates on social media.
