Schools seek feedback on expected referendum

The Moorestown school district wants the community to share insights and priorities in a survey about building needs and improvements.

The survey is part of preliminary work in advance of bond referendum anticipated next March. The district and its architects have identified projects that would address space needs and aging infrastructure, and also discussed potential upgrades at an April 30 board of education meeting.

Their presentations can be found at future.mtps.us., the hub for all bond referendum information and updates, including proposed improvements.

The board anticipates approval of a projects list for state review this summer by the Department of Education. That process is expected to conclude with a determination of state aid that would help offset project costs if the bond referendum is approved by voters.

The projects under consideration are centered around improving building operations and efficiency and creating flexible spaces to benefit students and the community.

“We are excited about taking the next steps to ensure a strong future for our outstanding school district,” said Interim Superintendent Joe Bollendorf. “We deeply value our relationship with Moorestown community members, which is why we are engaging them at the start of this process. There will be many more opportunities for the public to ask questions and learn more.”

The community survey is open through Tuesday and can be accessed at www.sites.google.com/mtps.us/future?pli=1. Results will be presented at the board’s meeting on Tuesday, June 18.
