Biker charity hosts meet and greet at Legion post

The NJ1 chapter of the Hogs and Heroes Foundation cycling organization, will host its Bike Night Meet and Greet on Monday, May 20, at American Legion Post 452.

The event will be from 7 to 10 p.m. and is open to the public, regardless of whether they ride on two wheels or four.

“All cars, motorcycles and enthusiasts are welcome to come show off what they have,” said chapter president Chrissy “Crazy” Barber. “It’s a great way to meet people who have that common interest.”

There is assigned parking based on the type of a guest’s vehicle. Bikers are required to be parked around the post itself, while cars will be parked on the grass lot behind the building.

The meet and greet will also feature an open cash bar and food. On the menu will be barbeque pulled pork and chicken, baked beans and mac and cheese. Pricing for plates can be found on the event’s page on Facebook.

“The bar will be open inside for beverages,” said Barber. “We will have barbeque outside for purchase at $10 a plate and a bikers’ tailor (artist Johnny May) will sell and sew patches on jackets and vests.”

The event also ties in with the Hogs and Heroes NJ1 Bingo night at the American Legion post on Saturday, May 11, at 3 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door, with a seat limit of 80. All funds raised from both cyclist events will be donated to either the military or first responders.

Past events have raised money for the Harrison Township police K-9 unit and other K-9s across Gloucester County.

“We sponsor and hold fundraising events for various public safety U.S. military and Wounded Warrior charities,” Barber noted. “We perform honor missions for fallen police officers, firefighters, emergency medical workers, members of the military killed in combat operations and US military veterans.

“We plan and participate in fun rides and events, and we participate in fundraisers and events of other charitable organizations,” she added. “We strive to set our example of good citizenship for the youth of our nation.”
