Medford police are investigating graffiti tags found at the Freedom Park Skatepark during the overnight hours of Feb. 7.
Earlier that day, the township had announced through its social media page that the park would temporarily close for about a week to complete minor upgrades and repairs to surface cracks and metal copings.
Funding for the upgrades and repairs is being provided under a Local Recreation Improvement Grant from the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs.
The township posted photographs on its social media page of the on its social media page. American Mobile Clean of Shamong sent crews to remove the graffiti the next day at no cost to the township. The owner’s sons use the skatepark, township officials said.
“They used a special product that costs over $500 a gallon and spent a couple hours washing the graffiti away,” officials said in their post, adding their appreciation for the graffiti removal. “We also appreciate a similar offer from Revive Painting & Powerwashing, who contacted us when they read our earlier post.”
The township has the only public skatepark in Burlington County. Opened in 2012, it utilizes state grant funds for maintenance and is open to anyone at no cost.
