Vendors turn out for holiday bazaar

Deptford Township hosted its holiday bazaar on Nov. 4 at the community center, an event that drew about 50 craft vendors, according to event coordinator Rosann Foschini.

“This is the second year that we’ve done it inside (the community center),” said Foschini. She said about 700 or 800 people were expected at the event.

Craft vendors represented local businesses who offered products that ranged from holiday keepsakes like wreathes and tree ornaments, to hand-sewn toys modeled after famous pop culture characters. Vendors also offered cakes and cookies and clothing for sale represented Philly’s sports teams.

“Some of the stuff is awesome,” said Foschini. “I’ve already bought cake and cookies. I’ve bought a big Grinch item, I’ve bought a tumbler, I’ve bought dog treats. Everything is really good.”

Vendors included Bella Luna Creations in Blackwood, Color Street and Creative Maker Designs. Food was provided by Big Swerve’s BBQ in Westville.

The bazaar also saw an appearance from Santa Claus, who chatted with kids and adults alike.

“Huge success at the Deptford holiday bazaar yesterday,” Sweet Creation by Cailin posted on Facebook about the bazaar. “It was so much fun to see the usual vendors, my regular customers, and meet some new faces.

“Halloween threw my planning and prepping off this week, so naturally, I got three hours of sleep for three consecutive nights to get everything ready, and I’m feeling it.”

“It’s certainly not one of our biggest events,” Foschini noted of the bazaar, “but it is a very good one. It is very well received.”

The event was the first among several planned for the holidays, including the annual tree lighting on Friday, Dec. 1, and the senior winter wonderland on Thursday, Dec. 14.
