The GFWC Gloucester County Women’s Club is celebrating its 30th Anniversary as a member of the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Club (NJSFWC) and the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC), an international organization.
The club is a non-profit organization and offers women ages 18 and over the opportunity to support the communities in Gloucester County as well as receive personal enrichment from helping others, and the opportunity to meet other women.
The club will resume their monthly meetings on Thursday, Sept. 14. The club meets the second Thursday of each month, September through June, at the Mantua Community Center, 111 Mercer Ave., Sewell. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the meetings begin at 7 p.m.
Upcoming projects include a 30th Anniversary Celebration, Adopt A Family project, donating filled backpacks to schools in the county, sponsoring a bus trip with AAA for a Santa Train Ride in Delaware which is a very popular event for the holidays. Contact AAA for further information and mention our club’s name. The club is also continuing its “Look for A Book” program taking place in local parks and playgrounds. Books are left in plastic bags with a note telling them to read the book and return it when done for another child to find.
The Special State Project that all NJSFWC clubs throughout the state are supporting is the Emmanuel Cancer Foundation which has a regional facility in Woodbury.
For social activities, the club is hosting Breakfast and Happy Hour get-togethers each month.
Feel free to come out and see what we are all about. If you would like a copy of the club’s recent newsletter, please contact the club at [email protected] or visit our Facebook page: Gloucester County Women’s Club.
