The Hogs and Heroes Foundation will return to American Legion Post 452 on Wednesday, Aug. 16, for its Bike Night Meet and Greet.

The event is open to anyone – regardless of whether or not they are motorcycle enthusiasts – who is interested in the Hogs and Heroes Foundation and getting to know the cyclist group. Food will be provided by Dominic’s Tavern in Bellmawr and a Kona Ice truck.

Our Bike Night Meet and Greet is more of a social event for anyone who is interested to come out to get to know our group and socialize with fellow motorcycle enthusiasts,” said the foundation’s Chrissy “Crazy” Barber. “Anyone and everyone is invited to come out and join us, whether you are on two wheels, three wheels or four wheels.”

The foundation is a nonprofit made up of motorcyclists who rally together to support the military and wounded warriors and encourage public safety at events throughout the year. The New Jersey chapter of Hogs and Heroes will host the meet and greet, but the foundation has chapters in other states around the Central and East coasts, including Pennsylvania, Delaware and West Virginia.

“We perform ‘honor’ missions for fallen police officers, firefighters, emergency medical workers, members of the military killed in combat operations and U.S. military veterans,” the foundation’s website states. “We plan and participate in fun rides and events and we participate in fundraisers, fun rides, and events of other charitable organizations.

“We strive to set an example of good citizenship for the youth of our nation.”

A 50/50 fundraiser will be part of the meet and greet to support the group’s upcoming Hog Fest on Saturday, Oct. 7. That event will also be held at post 452 and proceeds will benefit the People for People Foundation’s veteran resource center to help combat food insecurity.

Also, while the bike night will help get our foundation name recognized with locals,” Barber noted. “It will also help the American Legion with proceeds from sales and new customers.”

Hours for the Bike Night Meet and Greet are 7 to 10 p.m. More information can be found by emailing [email protected] or calling (856) 285-8357.
