Gloucester Township began its weekly summer-long farmer’s market earlier this month and will continue it all summer long every Thursday through Aug. 31.
Residents are invited from 4 to 7 p.m. at Harwan Park, where they can purchase crafts, food and artwork from local artists, hear live music and play games.
The township introduced the Thursday farmer’s markets last year, and despite summer thunderstorms, each was met with heavy turnout for live music, food, games and crafts. As a result, the market was able to expand the number of weekly vendors; there are 30 this year.
In related news, the historical mural in downtown Blackwood was unveiled in an official ribbon-cutting ceremony with the artist, David Knauer, and township officials.
Knauer works with oil, aerosol, pen and tattoo ink, and to complete the mural, he reviewed historical photographs provided by the Gloucester Township Historical Committee.
Knauer’s friend, Rob Ortiz, helped with the project. He is a software developer who works in art and graphic design in his free time. The owner of 21-23-25 N. Black Horse Pike donated a wall for the mural, the brainchild of the Neighborhood Preservation team in Gloucester Township.
