75-year-old killed in vehicle crash

On Wednesday June 14 at approximately 8:35 a.m., the Harrison Township Police Department was dispatched to the 200 block of Bridgeton Pike in reference to a motor vehicle crash. Investigation by police revealed the following:

A 2012 Ford Fiesta, operated by an Elk Township resident, was traveling southbound on Bridgeton Pike (State Highway 77) when, for an unknown reason, the vehicle veered into the northbound lane and struck a 2023 Ford F-150 which was being operated by a Mullica Hill resident. As a result, Bridgeton Pike was closed for approximately three hours between Commissioners and Fislerville Roads.

The operator of the Ford Fiesta, who was identified as 75-year-old Georgette Hayes, was transported to Inspira Medical Center of Mullica Hill where she was pronounced deceased. The occupants of the Ford F-150 were also transported to Inspira Medical Center of Mullica Hill and were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is being conducted by patrolman Thomas Watts and sergeant Kurt Pflugfelder. Other assisting agencies included Mantua Township Police, Elk Township Police, Gloucester County EMS, Harrison Township Fire District and the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT).
