Burlington County hosting youth career fair on May 25

Nearly 40 employers from various industries and sectors are expected to be present

Teens and young adult job seekers should circle Thursday, May 25, on their calendars and get their resumes ready for Burlington County’s Youth Career Job Fair.

Sponsored by the Burlington County Commissioners and the Burlington County Workforce Development Board Youth Council, the career fair will be held between 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Burlington County Human Services Building, 795 Woodlane Road, Westampton.

Nearly 40 employers from various industries and sectors are expected to be present for the fair and all of them are actively seeking employees to fill positions, apprenticeships or internships. The Burlington County American Jobs Center, U.S. Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division, the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development, the New Jersey Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services and the New Jersey Division of Temporary Disability and Families Leave Insurance will also have staff and resource tables present.

“Burlington County is the perfect place to live, work and run a business for many reasons, but particularly the quality of our labor force,” said Burlington County Commissioner Director Felicia Hopson. “Our county’s youth receive great educations and training from local schools and colleges, including Rowan College at Burlington County, and we’re thrilled to partner with our Workforce Development Board to hold a career fair designed to connect them with employers ready to hire.”

The youth career fair is open to job seekers ages 16 and up. Participants should dress professionally (business attire is recommended) and bring multiple copies of their resumes. Attendees should be prepared to be interviewed and possibly hired that day.

Among the employers expected include: Amazon; Andrews Federal Credit Union; Avenues to Independence; BAC Local 7 Tile; Marble and Terrazzo; the Burlington County Sheriff’s Office; Diggerland USA; Galloway Township Ambulance Squad; Goldfish Swim School; Goodwill Industries of Southern NJ and PA; The Greater Philadelphia YMCA; Hamilton Building Supply; Hoffman Exterminating Co.; Holman Automotive; IBEW 269; Kramer Beverage; Laborers Local 55; Liberty Lake Day Camp; Masonic Village; McDonald’s; the New Jersey Craft Laborers Apprenticeship Program; Occupational Training Center; Ravitz Family Markets; Republic Bank; Rimtec Corporation; Rite Aid; Rutgers University Police Department; Sonic Drive-in; The Funplex; Topgolf-Mount Laurel; Wawa; Army Recruiting Station; Work Zone Contractors and more.

The youth career fair is being held during a period of economic growth for the county. Unemployment has dipped to near historic lows and over the next decade Burlington County is projected to have the highest job growth of any South Jersey county, according to projections in the South Jersey Regional Workforce Development Plan.

“We’re proud of Burlington County’s status as a premier destination for businesses and that our economic development efforts and business support is creating jobs and new opportunities,” said Commissioner Deputy Director Tom Pullion. “This career fair is another example of the outstanding work by Burlington County’s Workforce Development Board to ensure our residents are aware of new job opportunities and have access to the education and training they might need.”

Residents with questions or seeking more information can call the Burlington County Workforce Development Board at (609) 265-5603.
