Spring is near! As the seasons change, the American Red Cross is reminding the public that the need for blood doesn’t take a break. Blood and platelets remain at risk of running low this month. Donors are crucial to helping the Red Cross avoid a blood shortage in the weeks to come.

Donors of all blood types, especially type O donors and platelet donors, are encouraged to make and keep appointments to donate. Book a time to give by visiting RedCrossBlood.org, downloading the Red Cross Blood Donor App, or calling 1-800-RED CROSS.

College-bound students can explore 100 plus programs of study offered at Rowan College of South Jersey (RCSJ) during Open House events from 6-8 p.m. March 23 at the Gloucester campus and March 29 at the Cumberland campus.

The Gloucester campus Open House will be held in the Physical Education Center gymnasium. The Cumberland campus Open House will be held in the Student Services Center gymnasium. For directions and to RSVP, visit RCSJ.edu/OpenHouse.

Saturday, March 25

Stop by the Gloucester County Animal Shelter and adopt a black and white tuxedo cat from noon to 2 p.m. And meet the shelter’s other furry friends. Contact the shelter for more information at (856) 881-2828 ext. 1 for adoptions.

The county shelter is located at 1200 N. Delsea Drive, Clayton.

The county is holding a Rabies Clinic at the Clayton Public Works from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., March 25 at 875 W. Washington Ave., Clayton.

March is Tire Amnesty Month. Participate in Gloucester County Tire Amnesty’s program with tire drop offs from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday at the Gloucester County Solid Waste Complex, 493 Monroeville Road (Route 694), South Harrison Township.

Participation is limited to Gloucester County residents only. Limit 10 per residence. For more information call the GCIA/Office of Recycling at 856-478-6045.

Washington Township Regular Board of Education will be held at 7 p.m. March 28 at the Eileen Abbot Central Administration Building, 206 East Holly Ave., Sewell.

Thursday, March 30

The Washington Township High School Counseling Department will host its 21st Annual College and Career Fair, sponsored by Jefferson Health and in partnership with the New Jersey Association for College Admission Counseling (NJACAC) from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 30 in the school’s 9/10 gymnasium and cafeteria.

For the first time, the Fair is being hosted during the school day. All high school students from all grade levels will be given the opportunity to attend.

Saturday, April 1

Washington Township’s Shred Day Event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Washington Township Municipal Building, 523 Egg Harbor Road, Sewell.

Saturday, April 29

Washington Township Public Schools Department of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) will host its inaugural Convening/Career Fair “Creating, Centering and Sustaining Equity” at 8:30 a.m. on April 29 at Washington Township High School, 529 Hurffville-Crosskeys Road, Sewell.

Washington Township Battle of the Badges Blood Drive between the Washington Township Police and Washington Township Fire will be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Washington Township Senior Center, 315 Greentree Road, Sewell.
