Senior Center Valentine’s event

On Thursday, Feb. 16, the Senior Center members enjoyed a wonderful luncheon to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Thank you to Police Chief Patrick Gurcsik, Cathy Fiorile and the police department for hosting a great time that included dining, dancing and amazing prizes! An additional thank you to Egizi Funeral Home, Aversa’s Bakery, and the talented ladies of the Senior Center who baked over 200 delicious cupcakes. Joining me in the fun were Councilmen Jack Yerkes and Peter DelBorrello. The Senior Center events and Thursday Hot Lunches are sponsored through the generosity of local businesses of the township. For additional information regarding the Senior Center, kindly contact the Director of Senior Programs, Lori Morello at 856-589-0520, ext. 2287 or email at
[email protected].

Veterans Wall at Washington Township Municipal Building Phase IV

Washington Township is proud to announce the Veterans Wall Phase IV to honor Washington Township residents who have worn the uniform of the United States military. This wall honors veterans who have completed honorable service in the United States Armed Forces during times of conflict and non-conflict. I am proud of our veterans and want to acknowledge their dedication and sacrifice. Thanks to local donors, we will be able to give recognition to our veterans’ honorable service to our country. We are now accepting applications for Phase IV. If you are a veteran or know of any Washington Township veterans who would like to take part, please stop in or download the application forms. This information can be found at www.Townshipnj.com.

Please note that eligibility is limited to persons who have completed active-duty service in the United States military and have been honorably discharged. National
Guard members who were deployed overseas in a combat zone are also eligible.
Inclusion of a DD-214 or other form of discharge is extremely helpful.

Please contact Lori Morello, Director of Senior Affairs at 856-589-0520 Ext. 2287 for more information. We are diligently working on setting up a future date for a ceremony to honor the newly added veterans on our Veterans Wall. More updates will be shared on our social media outlets, as well as the township website. Tentative date for this event will be Dec. 14.

Coffee with the Mayor

I would like to remind residents about Coffee with the Mayor. The purpose of these
meetings is to open a constructive, positive dialogue between residents and myself, to
work together to benefit the Township. These conversations will be held the third Thursday of every month and are limited to 30 minutes, starting promptly at 8 a.m.

Each meeting will have a maximum of three residents, who must sign up in advance and send one or two questions prior to our meeting to focus the discussion and allow me to prepare some information to discuss. The deadline to sign up and send questions is 12 p.m. on the Monday before each Thursday’s meeting time. I look forward to meeting with any residents who are interested in attending. Please contact my Confidential Aide Suzie Barone at 856-589-0575 or at [email protected].
