Deptford Township will host its first family Bingo night on Tuesday, March 14, at the community center.
A variety of prizes will be featured at the event, which will take place from 6 to 8 p.m.
“We’re gonna play lots of games (of Bingo) and we have businesses donating prizes to the winners,” said Mayor Paul Medany. “It’s gonna be a lot of fun for families.
“There’s not a lot of cheap events that the whole family can attend,” he added. “That’s one of the ideas behind this, to provide a fun and affordable event for families to attend and spend time together.”
The idea for Bingo night came up years ago and was supposed to happen then, but it ended up being put on hold because of COVID. This year’s registration for the event is already full, with about 400 people expected to attend and fill up the center’s gym.
“I am pleasantly surprised,” said Medany. “That is a great turnout for an event such as this.”
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Families who’ve registered can expect snacks and light refreshments. Bingo night is sponsored by Medany and other members of township council.
Recreation Coordinator Roseann Foschini expects there will be another Bingo night going forward, possibly once a year.
Other Deptford family events included the first movie night on Feb. 24, with another scheduled for March 24 at 7 p.m., at the community center gym. The featured film will be “Lyle Lyle Crocodile.”
The township also holds monthly Bingo events for seniors; the next one is scheduled for March 8 at noon, also at the community center gym.
