Mount Laurel Township and its council have announced plans to host the community’s second annual food truck festival on Sunday, Sept. 18.
The event will be held at the Mount Laurel Municipal Complex on Mount Laurel Road) from noon to 5 p.m. Parking will be available at 10000 and 15000 Midlantic Drive. Walt Whitman Avenue will be closed to traffic during the event and no parking will be allowed at the municipal complex.
The annual festival began in September of last year and welcomed 18 food trucks, two breweries and a winery for residents. This year’s event will feature 17 food vendors, wineries, five breweries, free kids’ activities, live entertainment and community organizations.
The Cha-Yen food truck will offer Asian-inspired desserts that include shaved ice, freshly brewed Bubble Tea, and Thai ice cream rolls. Latin Bites food truck will sell Puerto Rican and Cuban-based cuisines like alcapurrias (plantain patty filled with beef) and ropa vieja (shredded flank steak).
Township departments will also be in attendance at the festival, including the Mount Laurel fire department and Emergency Management Services.
Mayor Kareem Pritchett remarked that the turnout from the inaugural festival has resulted in the addition of even more trucks this year.
“Last year’s food truck festival was a tremendous success,” he said. ”This year, we have added more food trucks and community organizations that residents can enjoy.”
Activities at the festival will include face painting, mechanical rides, a petting zoo and giveaways. Adults can choose selections from local wineries and a variety of local, crafted brews, including from Bout The Hops Brewery, a township-based microbrewery focused on high-quality beers with fresh ingredients.
Deputy Mayor Stephen Steglik noted the festival’s wide range of food and beverage options, in addition to live music.
“The food truck festival will offer an eclectic variety of food, drinks, and entertainment from popular band 3amTokyo,” he noted. “We have activities for all ages and look forward to interacting with our residents again at this incredible event.”
