On Wednesday morning, March 23, Harrison Township Police Department’s Captain Adam McEvoy, Lieutenant David Marro and officer Katelin Macken attended a breakfast hosted by the Gloucester County Women in Law Enforcement Association (GCWLE) to announce a new mentoring program.
The GCWLE is composed of both officers and assistant prosecutors whose mission is to promote the acquisition and advancement of women in law enforcement in Gloucester County through recruitment, advocacy and mentorship utilizing a coordinated approach of equality and empowerment.
Particularly within Gloucester County, women are represented among all law enforcement ranks throughout the prosecutor’s office, sheriff’s office, 26 municipalities, and Rowan University. There has been a rapidly growing appreciation of the unique and valuable professional qualities that women bring to this profession. Women have had a positive impact on law enforcement practices in numerous ways but in particular in their ability to de-escalate situations, address violence against women, crimes against children and by their positive impact within the communities we serve.
