From book to studio: Mullica Hill resident embraces passion for health

Sewell dance studio opens this weekend

Special to The Sun: Mullica Hill resident, author and dance instructor, Angela Sette, has brought her passion for dance and fitness to her new studio Visionary Movement located in Sewell.

Mullica Hill resident and fitness instructor Angela Sette grew up with a love for dance and movement, and since releasing her book “Opening Our Minds To Our Brains’ Potential” two years ago, she’s been working on taking her passions to the next level.

Released in 2019, Sette’s book explores inner peace, appropriate ways to grieve and the trials and tribulations of being a parent. Her book compiles inspirational and motivational quotes that she wrote for her social media following.

The outcome was rewarding for Sette, and the publication of her debut novel made her realize she wanted to pursue her fitness devotions beyond the pages.

“While writing my book I slowly started teaching more from my home,” she said about working as a fitness and dance instructor. “After all, my kids were in college and I could create a schedule conducive to visiting them.”

An 18-year resident of Mullica Hill, Sette started gymnastics classes at the age of three and has since been certified in yoga, pilates, zumba, body barre and strong nation, all of which will be classes provided at her new studio, Visionary Movement.

Her daughter, Nicolette Sette, was raised with the same background. Nicolette further pursued her love of dance by minoring in dance at Rowan University and tap dancing for Philadelphia-based tap dance organization UCTT. She is now certified in teaching zumba and strong nation.

“I was fortunate to teach in all of the dance and gymnastic centers that my children attended,” Sette said.

In January 2020, Sette found the ideal space for her dance instruction needs in Sewell as it has enough space for three dance rooms, a room for pilates and a room for meditation. Once the lockdown hit due to the pandemic, the Sette’s – including Angela’s husband Dominic and their two sons Zachary and Anthony – went to work.

“We were fortunate since the drywall repairs and painting as well as the majority of the flooring we could do ourselves,” Sette said. “With the lockdown this was a godsend since people were not able to work.”

Special to The Sun: Visionary Movement dance and fitness studio, which acted as a Sette family renovation project during the pandemic, opened on Saturday, March 5.

After years of repairs, painting, flooring, interior design, landscaping and more, the Sette’s were able to create a perfect space ready for classes. This weekend, Sette hosted the grand opening of her new fitness and dance studio Visionary Movement, located at 160 Essex Ave. in Sewell. The space will be run by herself and her daughter, Nicolette.

“Our mission of Visionary Movement is to provide a unique atmosphere of exploration and growth into the world of fitness and dance while optimizing brain, nutrition and overall health,” Angela Sette said. “We are a mother-daughter team that discovered the positive transformational qualities of dance, movement, proper nutrition and brain health.”
