The Pinelands Library has recently relocated from Allen Avenue in downtown Medford Township to a new home on the first floor of town hall on Union Street.
The library opened its doors on Feb. 14, 1972, and has long been a staple in the community. The Medford Library Association donated $50,000 to the Burlington County Library System Foundation to help with the cost of new technology and modern furnishing of the new site.
The library will now feature an array of amenities, such as the introduction of a dedicated technology center featuring MACs and PCs. It will also have event space, improved customer parking for residents, a larger children’s department, options for multiple work spaces and a cafe.
COVID safety measures are in place at all of the Burlington County Library System branches: Evesham, Cinnaminson, Bordentown, Maple Shade, Pemberton, Riverton and the new town hall location. The result is temporarily reduced hours of Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with no hours on the weekend. Masks are required.
Despite that, Pinelands branch Manager Danielle Haubrich described what makes the library so special.
“I think that this library being part of the Medford Township offices now allows us to be a one stop shop for residents, and it enables us to provide a better library experience for the community,” she said
Haubrich noted what she hopes for the future of the library.
“I hope and I expect that the Pinelands library will continue to be a well-loved part of the Medford community,” she noted. “We always strive to offer a cozy and inviting experience to everybody that walks through our doors, and I think we’ll really be able to continue doing that in the new space.
“The library’s a place where customers can come to be connected with new opportunities and resources,” Haubrich added. “And I think now we’ll be able to do that more than ever.”
Burlington County Library System Director Ranjna Das looks forward to her staff having more space and more programs, including tech classes and film screenings.
“I look forward to serving them, along with our team at Pinelands, and I hope they take full advantage of everything were offering,” she said
