Medford Republicans on track to lead in Township Council

Medford Republicans look to lead votes in Township election

As of Thursday, Nov. 4., Republicans Charles “Chuck” Watson, Donna Symons and Erik Rebstock are currently leading in the election for the three open seats with Medford Township Council, according to unofficial results from the Burlington County Office of Elections.

Watson currently leads with 20.8 percent of the vote, while Symons has received 20.03 percent and Rebstock has 19.97 percent. Democratic challengers Erik Bjorn, Britani Raynor and Keturah ‘Key’ Harris have received 13.09 percent, 13.07 percent and 13.00 percent, respectively.

Approximately 94 percent of the total expected vote for Medford Township is in, according to the Burlington County of Elections as of deadline.

For the three open seats available with the Medford Township Public Schools Board of Education, Jeffrey Wagner is leading with 3,994 total votes. Andrea Kornick and Chad Fires have both received 3,699 and 3,162 votes thus far to be leading for the three open seats available. Heather Foster has received 2,774 to currently be the first candidate on the outside, with Jeffrey Sallade having received 2,661 votes and Cynthia Wassersug having received 2,464.

In the race for an unexpired seat with Medford Township Public Schools Board of Education, Angela Zografos currently leads Julia Smith, with Zografos having received 3,088 and Smith having received 2,878.

The race for the governorship of New Jersey was not officially decided as of deadline, but incumbent Gov. Phil Murphy appears headed for the top job in Trenton once more, fending off a challenge from GOP counterpart Jack Ciattarelli. In Burlington County specifically, with 361 of 365 precincts reporting, Murphy holds a lead of approximately 7.500 votes over Ciattarelli. Murphy would become the first Democrat to be sent back to the state capitol by voters since Brendan Byrne in 1977.

These results are unofficial and will not be official until certified.
