Mayor’s Column: Holiday Fund Drive

Mayor Michael Mignogna discusses the Voorhees Police Department's annual Holiday Fund Drive.

“We make a living by what we get but we make a life by what we give.”

Winston Churchill

Voorhees Township is fortunate to have one of the finest police departments in New Jersey. They work hard to keep our community safe and allow our families to sleep peacefully at night.

In addition to their service while on duty, our police are active in serving our community while off duty. For the past 15 years, they have sponsored a Holiday Fund Drive to help bring smiles to the faces of deserving local families in need. This year is no exception.

The Voorhees Township Police Foundation Holiday Fund is currently accepting letters of recommendation for families in need. If you know a family you would like to refer to the program, please forward an email or letter explaining the family’s current situation, including the parent(s) name, names and ages of children and their address. They must reside in our school district.   Area-deserving families are chosen to benefit from this wonderful cause. The police will provide the family with toys, clothes, food and gift cards. Volunteers raise the money then do all the shopping and wrapping.  The presents are delivered by Santa Claus escorted by our police and fire trucks.

Donations can be made in person at the Voorhees Police Station or by mail to Kristina Rieders, Voorhees Township Police Foundation Holiday Fund, 1180 White Horse Road, Voorhees, NJ 08043.  Make checks payable to the Voorhees Police Holiday Fund, EIN# 81-171907. Questions about the Holiday Fund should also be directed to Kristina Rieders at 856-882-1132 or [email protected].

During this holiday season, it is always more rewarding to give than to receive!

** The Alicia Rose Victorious Foundation will hold its 19th Annual Virtual Birthday Bash on Friday, Nov. 5 at 6:00 p.m. Held in the comfort of your own home, this event features a brief, dynamic program and includes a Signature Silent Auction Boutique, digital Ad Book, tribute messages and videos.
