Gloucester County Women’s Club next meeting on Oct. 14

The club is working on a new project "Box of Balloons" with members collecting party goods for four themed parties for children in underserved areas.

The GFWC Gloucester County Women’s Club is back to meeting in person at the Mantua Community Center, 111 E. Mercer Ave., Sewell, N.J. 08080, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., on the second Thursday of each month September through June. The next meeting is Thursday, Oct. 14.  We invite women ages 18 and over to join us. We offer community service, personal enrichment and the opportunity to make new friends.

The club is getting ready to stuff stockings that we send to the troops for Christmas. We are working on a new project “Box of Balloons” with members collecting party goods for four themed parties for children in underserved areas. This is a national organization with the local site being in Woodbury.

Other projects include adopting a 10-year old boy with autism and other health problems through Angels Community Outreach.  Each month, members are making up baskets of goodies for him and his family to enjoy. We collect aluminum tabs for Ronald McDonald House, any condition sneakers for them to be recycled

The club recently participated in Washington Township’s Super Saturday and donated backpacks filled with school supplies to schools in the county.

The club is holding another Clothing and More Drive on Thursday, Nov. 11 at the Washington Township High School, 11-12 Wing, 529 Hurffville-Cross Keys Road, Sewell, N.J. 08080, 3-7 p.m. The only items we do not take are furniture, mattresses, electronics or appliances, books and records, wet, smoke damaged or mildewed items. All items must be bagged and tied or boxed and taped close.
