Committee approves efforts for upcoming township fundraiser

Together We Rebuild raffle and drawings will take place on Oct. 17.

The Harrison Township committee held a work session on Oct. 4, a meeting that was open to the public.

The mayor and township committee first authorized the waiver of township-imposed building and subcode-permit fees for residents affected by the Sept. 1 tornado. Many residents are still recovering from the devastation that resulted from Hurricane Ida.

Next came authorization for software company Edmunds GovTech to accept online WIPP payments, as well as approval for a tree-lighting ceremony during Thanksgiving break. The Lights on Main ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 27, with a rain date of Sunday, Nov. 28.

In new business, Harbaugh Village LLC was approved for an amusement games license at its 174 Bridgeton Pike facility. Two toss games will be available every Saturday and Sunday, from 5 to 10 p.m., from Nov. 28 through Jan. 8. Dates and hours for the village games will then change to Thursday through Sunday, 5 to 9 p.m., from Jan. 9 through Feb. 27.

The Mullica Hill Rotary got a social permit for its upcoming Together We Rebuild fundraiser on Oct. 17, and was also granted a raffle license for a 50/50 and silent auction at the same event.  Beer will be available to eligible guests in the parking lot of the Naples at the Warehouse and Harmony Fire Company, but all ticket holders will be required to wear color-coded wristbands to determine whether they can consume alcohol.

Harrison Township’s next committee meeting is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. in the municipal building.
