CANstruction at the Deptford Mall organized by AIA West and United Way of Gloucester County

THEME: Make Hunger Take Flight (in honor of Amelia Earhart Day on July 24) 

ABOUT: Canstruction® is a nonprofit organization which hosts annual competitions showcasing  structures made entirely out of full cans of food. All of the cans used at Canstruction Pennsauken are donated to the Food Bank of South Jersey. Find out more at www.Canstruction.org. Check  out the can structures in person at the Deptford Mall and be sure to follow the instructions at the  event to vote for your favorite structure. 

WHEN: July 24 – Aug 8, 2021: Open to the Public 

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES: On Build Day, Saturday, July 24, 2021 the Deptford Mall will host  Canstruction Carnival from 1p.m. to 3p.m. in Center Court and surrounding area. The community is invited to bring canned goods to support the Food Bank of South Jersey in exchange for family friendly  entertainment. Enjoy face painting, balloon sculpting, carnival games, magic show and meet & greet  with Curious George, the famous monkey from children’s books who can’t help but run into trouble.  Guests will receive one amusement ticket for each can good donated. Tickets can be redeemed for  the activities: Face painting – 1 ticket per child; Balloon sculpting – 1 ticket per child; Meet Curious  George – 2 tickets per child, Carnival Games – 1 ticket per game; Magic Show – 1 ticket per person to  attend: 1:30PM & 2:30PM showtimes. 

In addition, Deptford Mall will host a Canstruction Food Drive to support the Food Bank of South  Jersey, Saturday, July 24 through Monday, August 30, 2021. The mall is asking the community to be  part of the solution by donating food for their neighbors in need. Food donation bins will be available in the lower level at Boscov’s Court, Center Court and Dick’s Sporting Good Court, where can goods and non-perishable items will be accepted.
