The Camden County Department of Health is announcing six new deaths caused by COVID-19, as well as 167 additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus confirmed between Saturday, May 15, and Monday, May 17. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 48,888 in Camden County today and 1,190 total fatalities.

“Even as we continue to increase vaccinations and slow the spread of COVID-19, we are still losing lives to this disease. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families,” said County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. “The pandemic has been long and incredibly difficult, but we may finally be nearing the end of this crisis. The only way to prevent future flare ups of the virus is for everyone who still hasn’t gotten vaccinated to get their shot. The vaccines are safe, effective, free, and more available than ever.”
The Department of Health is announcing 167 additional positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) identified in Camden County. Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.
To date, 445,149 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Camden County. There are 252,865 people with at least one vaccine dose, and 211,020 people who are fully vaccinated.
In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 2,357 confirmed resident cases and 1,384 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 48,888 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 462 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as seven staff deaths, out of our 1,190 total fatalities countywide.
The county Health Department is currently working to trace close contacts of these newest cases. The investigations are still ongoing, and we will update the public with new developments as the information is gathered by our investigators.
