The exhibit features over 50 objects documenting the Battle of Red Bank, the Whitall family farm, and Native American life along the Delaware River.
“Many individuals may not realize that Gloucester County’s Red Bank Battlefield played an impressive role in the American Revolution,” said Director Robert M. Damminger. “We have American history in our backyards and it’s worth taking the time to explore and learn more.”
Highlights include objects from our 2014 archeological survey including personal objects like pocket watch fragments and a religious medal. On display are Whitall family Bibles, cannonballs, swords, and Native American pottery.
“Exploring Red Bank Battlefield is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon with friends or family. History buffs can receive tours from experts about the Whitall House and Battlefield,” said Commissioner Jim Lavender.
The exhibit will be open to the public Thursday-Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Visitation is limited to 10 people at a time and masks are required. Private tours are available by appointment.
