County records six deaths, 136 new cases

Continued uptick in daily average number of cases comes as county administered almost 286,000 vaccine doses.

The Camden County Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday reported six new deaths caused by novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Camden County, as well as 136 additional cases of the disease. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 44,237 in Camden County today and 1,135 total fatalities.

The following information is currently available regarding these most recent deaths in Camden County:

New Case 3: FEMALE, 90s, WINSLOW TOWNSHIP
New Case 4: MALE, 60s, LAUREL SPRINGS BOROUGH
New Case 5: FEMALE, 90s, GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP
New Case 6: MALE, 80s, CLEMENTON BOROUGH

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families as we announce the tragic passing of six additional Camden County residents due to COVID-19,” said County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli, Jr.

“The Camden County Vaccination Center currently has thousands of vaccination appointments available for new patients, and for those with appointments they’d like to move up. If you are eligible for vaccination, don’t wait to get protected. This is our best way to stop the spread of coronavirus and to prevent additional loss of life.”

Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.

To date, 285,994 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Camden County. There are 178,970 people with at least one vaccine dose, and 115,297 people who are fully vaccinated.

In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 2,330 confirmed resident cases and 1,345 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 44,237 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 461 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as seven staff deaths, out of our 1,135 total fatalities countywide.

The county Health Department is currently working to trace close contacts of these newest cases. The investigations are still ongoing, and we will update the public with new developments as the information is gathered by our investigators.
