Person arrested for theft in progress of catalytic converters

The located catalytic converters were returned to the owner of the vehicle.

Release according to the Berlin Police Department.

On March 8, 2021, The Berlin Police Department made an arrest of a subject for a theft in progress of two catalytic converters.
On March 8, 2021 at approximately 10:54 a.m., a Berlin Police Officer was on patrol in the area of the 100 block of Route 73 where he observed suspicious activity. During his observations, the Officer observed a male subject under a vehicle that was parked in a lot for advertisement purposes.
The Officer continued to observe the actions of the suspect which were consistent with the removing of the catalytic converters of the vehicle. The subject then entered a vehicle which was subsequently stopped. Through an on scene investigation, two catalytic converters were recovered from the suspect vehicle.
The suspect was taken into custody and charged accordingly with theft, criminal mischief, trespassing and hindering apprehension.
The located catalytic converters were returned to the owner of the vehicle.
