CamCo logs 21 deaths from COVID-19

Three-day count revealed 777 additional confirmed coronavirus cases.

The Camden County Department of Health (DOH) revealed on Monday 21 new deaths caused by novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Camden County, as well as 777 additional cases of the disease confirmed between Jan. 16 and Jan. 18. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 33,861 in Camden County and 854 total fatalities.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families, friends, and loved ones of 21 additional victims lost to this terrible disease,” said County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli, Jr.

“None of us could have imagined the toll this pandemic would take on our community one year ago. There is no longer a day that passes when I don’t think of those within our community who have had to endure tragedy amidst all the other uncertainty brought upon us in the last 10 months. We must all continue to fight this disease with every effort we can give to ensure that no further loss of life occurs.”

Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.

In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 2,138 confirmed resident cases and 1,153 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 33,861 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 417 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as three staff deaths, out of our 854 total fatalities countywide.

The county Health Department is currently working to trace close contacts of these newest cases. The investigations are still ongoing, and we will update the public with new developments as the information is gathered by our investigators.
