CamCo reporting close to 300 new COVID-19 cases

Second wave continues to drive up number of cases and weekly confirmed positive average.

The Camden County Department of Health revealed on Thursday 290 additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Camden County. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 14,692 in Camden County today and 588 total fatalities.

“The spread of COVID-19 is not slowing down, this is the third time we have set a new record in daily cases in the past eight days,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr.

“We know much more now than we did in the spring. We can crush the curve again if we use that knowledge to fight this battle strategically. We do not need to close businesses if everyone wears a mask, avoids indoor gatherings, and social distances. If we continue to choose to ignore this guidance, then the winter will be an extremely difficult period for our community, but we can save lives if we work together.”

Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.

In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 1,599 confirmed resident cases and 695 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 14,692 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 346 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as three staff deaths, out of our 588 total fatalities countywide.

The county Health Department is currently working to trace close contacts of these newest cases. The investigations are still ongoing, and we will update the public with new developments as the information is gathered by our investigators.
