CamCo reporting four deaths, 24 new cases

New cases fall sharply despite multiple recorded fatalities.

The Camden County Department of Health (DOH) reported on Tuesday four new deaths caused by novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Camden County, as well as 24 additional cases of the disease. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 11,715 in Camden County and 566 total fatalities.

The following information is currently available regarding these most recent deaths in Camden County:

New Case 1: MALE, 60s, CHERRY HILL
New Case 2: FEMALE, 70s, RUNNEMEDE
New Case 3: FEMALE, 90s, VOORHEES
New Case 4: MALE, 90s, VOORHEES

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families today as we learn of four additional Camden County residents whose lives have been lost due to COVID-19,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr.

“Coronavirus cases are surging throughout the state and region. We can get a handle on this crisis before it gets out of hand again, but we will have to make small sacrifices in order to get there. For the time being, please forgo small indoor gatherings even if you believe all of the guests to be healthy. Until this pandemic is over, we have to minimize our close contact with others in order to stop the virus from spreading.”

Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.

In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 1,529 confirmed resident cases and 637 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 11,715 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 333 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as three staff deaths, out of our 566 total fatalities countywide.

The county Health Department is currently working to trace close contacts of these newest cases. The investigations are still ongoing, and we will update the public with new developments as the information is gathered by our investigators.
