CamCo reports only 20 new cases

County sees no deaths, significant drop in cases from average weekend numbers.

The Camden County Department of Health announced on Tuesday 20 additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Camden County. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 8,984 in Camden County today and 546 total fatalities.

“Over the past two months we have seen the average age of infected persons in Camden County drop from approximately 47 to approximately 31, underscoring the reality that young adults are driving the spread of this disease,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr.

“We are seeing similar trends play out across the country, but house parties and other large gatherings are significant factors in our state’s recent uptick in cases. Although we are extremely fortunate that this virus does not seem to be as severe when infecting young adults, we need them to step up and help control the spread of coronavirus so that others can be protected and our region can move forward with reopening our economy.”

Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.

In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 1,340 confirmed resident cases and 512 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 8,984 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 311 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as three staff deaths, out of our 538 total fatalities countywide.
