Next Tuesday’s New Jersey Primary Election will be done primarily through vote by mail due to COVID-19.
Gloucester County officials say the general public must vote by mail according to New Jersey Executive Order No. 144. All active registered Democrats and Republicans have automatically received a vote by mail ballot. The ballot includes a return postage-paid envelope and can either be put in the mail, deposited in one of five secure drop boxes located throughout the County or delivered directly to the board of elections.
The drop boxes are located at:
- Gloucester County Complex, 1200 N Delsea Drive in Clayton
- Mantua Township Municipal Building, 401 Main Street in Mantua
- Monroe Township Municipal Building, 125 Virginia Avenue in Williamstown
- Gloucester County Office of Elections, 550 Grove Road in West Deptford
- Woolwich Municipal Building, 120 Village Green Drive in Swedesboro
For the Primary Election date on July 7, each county must open at least one polling place in each municipality and counties are required to have a minimum of 50 percent of their polling places available to voters. Individuals who vote in-person will cast provisional paper ballots, but voters with disabilities may use ADA-accessible voting machines.
Residents must vote in the municipality in which they reside. Vote-by-mail ballots will not be accepted at any polling locations.
The polling locations in The Sun’s coverage area are as follows:
- Deptford Township – Deptford Municipal Building, 1011 Cooper Street in Deptford
- Harrison Township – Harrison Twp. Municipal Building, 114 Bridgeton Pike in Mullica Hill
- Mantua Township – Mantua Twp. Municipal Building 401 Main Street in Mantua
- Monroe Township – Monroe Twp. Municipal Building, 125 Virginia Avenue in Williamstown
- Washington Township – Washington Twp. Senior Center, 315 Greentree Road in Sewell
Poll workers will ensure six-foot distancing among voters and regularly sanitize high-touch surfaces. Poll workers will also get breaks for hand-washing. Poll workers and voters are asked to wear face coverings.
