CamCo reports two deaths, 19 new cases

The Camden County Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday announced 2 (two) new deaths caused by novel coronavirus (COVID-19), as well as 19 additional cases of the disease. Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.

This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 7,441 in Camden County and 430 total fatalities.

“It is with great pain that we announce two additional deaths caused by COVID-19 in Camden County today. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families, and we are wishing a fast recovery to all those who are currently combatting the disease,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr.

“Over the last week, Camden County has averaged fewer than 30 new cases per day. This was not thinkable a month ago when we were seeing between 80 and 90 cases each day. This is due entirely to the actions of our residents who are wearing masks, staying home, and taking steps to reduce the likelihood that they contract or spread coronavirus. If we continue to take these actions, we can keep the spread of this disease low in our community, and we can save hundreds or thousands of lives in the process.”

Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.

In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 1,276 confirmed resident cases and 468 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 7,441 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 288 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as three staff deaths, out of our 30 total fatalities countywide.
