Parking restrictions on Kings Highway to take effect today

New rules along main borough thoroughfare to ease burdens on businesses operating with curbside pick-up, take-out and delivery.

Haddonfield Police Chief Jason Cutler issued a release over the weekend, paving the way for new parking restrictions along certain sections of Kings Highway in the downtown core that will be used for businesses along that strip to utilize curbside pick-up, take-out and delivery services.

The new legislation, which takes effect today, Monday, May 18, reads as follows:

Parking Prohibition – Kings Highway East
WHEREAS, on March 9th, 2020 through NJ Executive Order #103, the Governor of the State of
New Jersey declared both a Public Health Emergency & a State of Emergency due to the public
health hazard posed by the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19); and
WHEREAS, on March 17th, 2020 through Emergency Proclamation the Board of Commissioners
declared a State of Emergency in the Borough of Haddonfield, due to the public health hazard
posed by the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19); and
WHEREAS, the Borough of Haddonfield’s Emergency Management Coordinator, Linda
Harrington, has authorized and empowered the Chief of Police to regulate vehicular traffic &
parking throughout the Borough under the New Jersey Civilian Defense and Disaster Control
Act, N.J.S.A. App A:9-33 et seq.; and
WHEREAS, The Borough of Haddonfield Local Ordinance 232-22 authorizes the Chief of Police
to designate parking prohibitions during the State of Emergency.
WHEREAS, New Jersey’s Executive Order #107 permits restaurants and dining establishments
such as cafes and breweries to offer takeout and delivery service; and
WHEREAS, New Jersey’s Executive Order #142 allows non-essential retail businesses to open
for curbside pickup only; and
WHEREAS, in order to maintain safety for vehicular & pedestrian traffic during the hours of
curbside pickup and takeout & delivery, parking will be restricted.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Jason Cutler, Chief of Police, order the following in
accordance with the aforesaid laws:
1) Parking will be restricted, in certain “Stopping Only Zones” along Kings Highway East
from Washington Ave. (PATCO) to Haddon Ave. “Stopping Only Zones” will facilitate
curbside pickup, takeout & delivery for businesses that are able to operate in
accordance with Executive Orders 107 & 142.
STOPPING ONLY ZONES are subject to the following guidelines and restrictions:

1) They will be marked with RED meter bags & signage
2) They are for active loading or unloading and limited to 5 minutes.
3) They will be on both sides of Kings Highway
4) They will be active Monday thru Sunday 7:00am to 10:00pm
5) They are effective 7:00am Monday May 18th, 2020
6) They will not expire until amended or withdrawn by the Chief of Police
Regular parking in spaces with a GREEN meter bag will still be allowed.
