Six more COVID-19 deaths reported in Gloucester County, 40 new cases on May 8

Gloucester County is now up to 74 COVID-19 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

Gloucester County health officials are reporting six more residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died.

Three of the six deaths were Deptford residents: a 75-year-old man, a 101-year-old woman and an 81-year-old woman. The county also reported the deaths of a 93-year-old woman from Washington Township, an 81-year-old woman from Glassboro and a 57-year-old man from West Deptford.

Gloucester County also reported 40 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, bringing the county’s total number up to 1,594 out of 7,038 tests conducted. Out of this number, 5,430 tests were negative and 14 are pending. One case has been moved out of the county.

The breakdown of new COVID-19 cases is as follows:

  • Clayton – 3
  • Deptford – 19
  • East Greenwich – 1
  • Glassboro – 2
  • Mantua – 1
  • Monroe Twp. – 3
  • Pitman – 1
  • Washington Twp. – 4
  • West Deptford – 1
  • Westville – 2
  • Woodbury – 1
  • Woolwich – 2

Gloycester Coutny is now accepting pre-screening calls for its May 14 COVID-19 testing site at Rowan College of South Jersey.

Tests will be performed by appointment only. Residents 18 and older with symptoms of COVID-19 must call (856) 218-4142 to be pre-screened. Please have insurance information available at this time. Once pre-screened an appointment time will be scheduled.

Pre-screening calls made be made between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. today, Monday and Tuesday. Calls will be accepted on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon. Residents must be symptomatic and a Gloucester County in order to receive COVID-19 testing. Proof of residency, such as a passport or driver’s license, is required. Anyone without symptoms will not be eligible for testing.
