Gloucester County sees spike with six new COVID-19 deaths

The county is also reporting 19 new positive cases for Thursday, April 16.

The Gloucester County Department of Health has confirmed that six more residents ill with COVID-19 have died, bringing the county’s total up to 18.

The six deaths reported by county officials on Thursday are the highest single-day COVID-19 death total in Gloucester County to date. They include:

  • A 58-year-old man
  • An 89-year-old man
  • A 79-year-old man
  • A 72-year-old woman
  • A 90-year-old woman
  • A 91-year-old woman

Additionally, Gloucester County is reporting 19 new positive cases of COVID-19 today, bringing the number of total positive cases to 619. The new positive cases are as follows:

  • A 51-year-old female from Monroe Twp.
  • A 33-year-old male from Paulsboro
  • An 84-year-old female from West Deptford
  • An 89-year-old male from Deptford
  • A 57-year-old female from Deptford
  • A 72-year-old female from Deptford
  • A 45-year-old male from Deptford
  • A 58-year-old female from Swedesboro
  • A 37-year-old male from South Harrison Twp.
  • A 49-year-old male from Woolwich
  • A 53-year-old male from Clayton
  • A 32-year-old male from Clayton
  • A 68-year-old female from Washington Twp.
  • A 53-year-old male from West Deptford
  • A 62-year-old female from West Deptford
  • A 62-year-old male from Monroe Twp.
  • A 4-month-old female from Monroe Twp.
  • A 61-year-old male from Deptford
  • A 59-year-old female from West Deptford

Gloucester County has announced its third COVID-19 drive thru testing site date. It will take place on Thursday, April 23, at Rowan College of South Jersey beginning at 10 a.m.

Tests will be performed by appointment only. Anyone without symptoms will not be eligible for testing. Residents 18 and older with symptoms of COVID-19 must call (856) 218-4142 to be pre-screened. Please have insurance information available. Once pre-screened, an appointment time will be scheduled.

Scheduling for the Thursday, April 23 site will begin Friday, April 17 at 8:30 a.m. Any calls before that will not receive an appointment.

Residents must be symptomatic in order to receive COVID-19 testing at this time.
